Automaton (by Silk)

"Very relaxing"

date: December 11, 2007

Definitly an original song. Nice flow and progression. It never gets repetitive (unlike a lot of stuff posted in the trance genre). I read your post in the audio forum, and would like to offer a suggestion - when submitting a track, picking the right genre is important, if you want the right people to listen to you music. I would consider this more of a IDM, or Ambient piece, than a trance piece. Trance music has 4/4 percussion, usualy with some form of kick (which this piece lacks). This is an awesome track, just in the wrong place.

Keep up the good work - Shenkhar

Thanks Shenkhar!

I've updated the genre so appreciate the tips. Identifying a genre was never my strong point. Most of my stuff isn't "pure" trance but I label it as such anyway.

"Kickin!"

date: November 18, 2007

This is already a pretty decent song. I love the way the song kicks in. Starts off all lo-fi with a 404 synth, then kicks in with some nice gated synths. Also has a really great beat to it. The only thing I belive you should take into consideration would be the sequence that kicks in at 3:15 ish. Some of the bass synths patterns seem to be off key a bit.. might just be me. Over all its a enjoyable song. Good work!

Author's Response:

Can't hear anything off key.. though I know what you mean, it do sound a little weird in one spot. It is not off key though, it's the combined sound that makes it that (unless you mean another place where the bass is modulated with freq.shift and some other weird things).
Thank you for reviewing.

"Nice orchestration, but it sounds... sub par."

submission: ***Fukai Mori***
date: November 14, 2007

Your orchestration is nice, but the instruments and mastering of this song is pretty terrible. Their is 0 stereo element to this, it sounds very "thin". Try using Izotopes Ozone 3 (if you can get it) to master each instrument. Otherwise, the instruments sound like midi presets. No offense if you went out and found your own patches - but these really do sound kinda lame. I think if you fixed these two things, you would have an ace track.

"Lithium drip time"

When I think misc, this is what comes to mind. A really nice piece. Even though you can tell sections/patterns are repeating, it is still original every time.

"Good song"

submission: Elakoonon
date: November 1, 2007

Good song, just needs some mastering done. It feels like the mid-bands are way too loud compared to the rest, and I think your master volume is a bit high - so the song clips a bit. However I like the orchestration and riffs.

Out of this World (OM)

"Absolutly great!"

date: October 18, 2007

I enjoyed the song Dj-immune! The drum patterns were top notch, mastering was pretty much perfect and the melody was very re-playable. Your synth choice and composition was very classic (which is good, true to genre) - I honestly have very little bad to say about the song. The only thing being that the intro goes a bit slow, has no effects or hooks. Mind you, I really don't think it needs one, but you could add one.
No doubt though, a top quality track! - Shenkhar

I know what you mean... geh. Sometimes you just gotta post something to get it out of your system - and start on a new song. Great work!

"Great!"

JBongars is just going around spamming songs with bad reviews. Your song is great Masebb, my only suggestion is to put a pad in during the intro. Love it, keep up the good work!

"Great, but it clashes."

date: September 28, 2007

Your synths are very nice, but unmastered. The melody and harmonies are also clashing - not meshing as they should. Just work on these two things a bit more, and it'll be great!

Eurodancer (DJ Ruskig Remix)

"Good, but needs to be polished!"

date: September 28, 2007

This song has a very nice melody and arping pad harmony. your synth choice was good, but your kick drum is a bit loud. Also, the snare rolls are a bit out or sync. The song as a whole is repetitive and long - but I understand how hard it is to make something seem "new". I realize it sounds like I'm just ripping on you.. but I really would like to see you improve as an artist. I think of this song as a diamond in the rough - just chip away a bit more and you'll have a beautiful track.

Author's Response:

I fully understands you, It is good but have not that thing, (you know that thing) to make it a rwally good track. I will work harder on next track. Thx this is what a true review is about.
